1. HOW TO REGISTER YOUR CHILD'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE?

The birth certificate is registered at the local public service for the records of persons or at the town hall of the administrative-territorial unit in whose radius the birth took place.

2. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO REGISTER YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE?

Time required for submission/registration approximately 10-15 minutes.

3. HOW LONG IS THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE ISSUED?

The birth certificate is issued within 3 days of submission/registration.

4. IS THERE A PERIOD IN WHICH THE BIRTH OF A CHILD MUST BE DECLARED?

Yes, 4 options are possible:

- 30 days from the date of birth, for the child born alive and still alive;
- 3 days from the date of birth, for the stillborn child;
- 24 hours from the date of death, for a live-born child who died within the 30-day period;
- 30 days for the child found or abandoned by the mother in the maternity/health facilities.

5. WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON'T REGISTER YOUR CHILD AT CITY HALL WITHIN THE ESTIMATED TERMS ABOVE?

When the declaration of birth was made after the expiration of the stipulated terms, after the expiration of the 30 days, the registration of the child's birth is done with the approval of the mayor and with the approval of the county public service for the records of persons, in the case of Cluj County - Cluj County Directorate of Records of Persons.

6. ARE THERE EXCEPTIONAL SITUATIONS IN THE REGISTRATION OF THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE OF THE CHILD OF SOME FOREIGN CITIZENS?

Yes, if the declarant is a foreign citizen who does not know the Romanian language, an authorized interpreter will be used when submitting the documents necessary for birth registration.
